| So there were two kewl TG items in the news this week. First one was that their is a post-op TS on the new season of the "Real World" (this time they are in Brooklyn). I must admit, I'm not a fan of Real World, and have check out Katelynn yet, but she seems like a really strong, really thoughtful woman. Here is her bio... Katelynn is a native of West Palm Beach, Fla., where she was raised by a religious Italian family. Her strong desire to be a mother stems from her close-knit relationship with her own mom, but this goal always seemed like a fantasy since Katelynn was born male. In high school, she realized that something was missing in her life, and she began the slow transgender process. At the age of 17, she started living as a woman. Just this past July, Katelynn traveled to Thailand to undergoing the last of her surgeries, making the transition from man to woman complete. The 24-year-old is a self-proclaimed computer geek and practicing black belt in martial arts. After a string of bad relationships, she is currently with her boyfriend, Mike, the guy she hopes to marry one day.The second piece of news came from yesterday's SF Chronicle. A former TS porn star made a huge splash at a recent brazilian fashion show... (01-17) 14:01 PST RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (AP) --
Rio closed its main fashion event of the year with less attention to the clothes than the model — a transgendered actress.
Patricia Araujo received a standing ovation after parading along the runway for the Complexo B brand late Friday to end the weeklong event in a city that delights in shocking the prudish with each year's Carnival celebration.
Complexo B designer Beto Neves said he invited Araujo to amaze the public.
"In fashion, the cool thing is to surprise," he told O Dia newspaper.
Globo Television's Web site called the 25-year-old Araujo "the star" of the show's final day, and model Isabeli Fontana told O Dia that Araujo "is the greatest."
Tall and slim, the dark-haired Araujo entered the catwalk wearing a long fur coat and quickly unveiled a short black-and-white dress to the applause of the hundreds of guests at the event.
"I love to be mobbed by the press," she told O Dia afterward. "I've always dreamed of being famous."
Her legal name is Patricia Oliveira, but she is known by the stage name of Araujo.Link to SF Chronicle articleFirst there was Candis Cayne on Dirty Sexy Money, then Isis on America's Next Top Model, and now this! We're getting there, people, slowly but surely!! | |

| This is a Great thing! I found out about the Fashion Show girl Patricia yesterday. All I can say is its about Bleedin' time. She's absolutely Gorgeous. I've also watched a bunch of the "Real World, Brooklyn" shows on MTV and Loved them. The show is being Very T-Friendly in its treatment of Katelynn. And, the interactions she has with the other 7 house mates so far has been very positive and supportive of her. It seems that there is a overall positive recognition of the GLBT community as there is another cast/house member who is openly gay. And, it seems like every episode I have seen there is either something said about GLBT issues or they're all going to a Gay Bar or some such thing ... and its all Very Positive! This is a good thing and I recommend giving it a look.
Yours,
