OK Y'all, Nikki has done it again!!! Her exhaustive efforts working with the Tropicana on behalf of the group has paid off in a mega awesome way and we are now in FULL VWS excitement mode! Check it out...
The advertised rates for Tropicana rooms were as follows; $76 weekdays, $161 for weekends (those numbers are for Garden Rooms, you add $10 a day for Island and add $30 a day for Paradise).
Their spring special was $50 weekdays and $105 on weekends (with the same rate increase as shown above for anything other than a Garden Room). Nikki got them down to a WildSide rate $35 on weekdays and $89 for weekends. (The cheapest of any strip hotel rate advertised on-line!) There was also a reduction on the rates for the two suites that we need for our party's.
During negotiations Nikki & I had received notes from people showing other Trop deals, such as free non-headliner show tickets etc. Nikki tried to get them included but was shot down every time; their response being "We're not going to give you free tickets along with your rate deal AND a reduction on the suites". Then came word of ANOTHER Trop promo; Garden Rooms for $50 a day, INCLUDING WEEKENDS, AND $50 worth of slot play for every day of your stay.
Nikki was like "HOLY SHIT! That's better than our deal!!!" Under the deal we had in place, Nikki's cost over a week, came to $353. With the new promo, the weekly cost was $350 PLUS $350 worth of slot play!!!! As you can imagine, Nikki had to get this deal.
So she proposed it to them and, as expected, they refused. Their response was "We couldn't reduce the rate of the suites AND give you the 50/50 promo. Besides, that promo was ending soon, so your group would have had to all book very quickly." Nikki didn't accept that and kept arguing, cajoling, threatening, and sending Jaylene, our hotel liaison, back to ever higher and higher levels of management until finally................SHE GOT IT!!!
The 50/50 deal with slot play will be ending soon for the general public, but it will remain open for WildSiders until March 29, 2010. As mentioned above, our rate will be $50 a day for a Garden Room, (add $10 for Island, and $30 for Paradise) including week ends AND you'll receive $50 worth of slot play for every day of your stay!!! So whether you play the slots or not, its still the cheapest rate on the strip! (Slot play donations should totally go to Nikki if you don't want it =)) )
Today is Friday, Jan. 22. Give the hotel a few days to get our deal into their computer system then contact, 1-800-634-4000. Identify yourself as a WildSider and reserve the room of your choice. You will need to put down one day's room rate as a deposit. When you get your reservation confirmation number, PLEASE e-mail me or Nikki with your confirmation so that we can keep on top of how many rooms are being booked.
PLEASE understand that the more rooms that are booked under the WildSide deal, the more leverage Nikki will have the following year when it comes to negotiations. Last year some people booked under other deals (Travelocity, etc), and if she had those rooms/nites added to last years total, she would have probably had an easier time this year.
But anyways...IT'S DONE AND DONE!!! And our lil Miss B deserves a big old round of applause!
