So tonight is the big night!! This should be a really good Oscars, so many good movies & actors up for awards. I so want to see Sean Penn win Best Actor for Milk (cause of the SF ties), but I think Mickey Rourke will get it for The Wrestler. I'd say that Heath Ledger is pretty much a lock for the Joker, and although I'd like to see Milk get Best Picture, I think it's a pretty forgone conclusion that Slumdog Millionaire will get it. I actually didn't see any of the movies that the Best Actresses were nominated for, so I got nothing there! tongue

The BEST part of the whole thing though, and the real reason to watch all the live countdown to red carpet stuff ("E!" is going live at 2pm pst and is having like 6 hours of coverage!) is that a good friend of mine, Trisha, a hottie from LA is going to the show tonight and walking the red carpet! I'm pretty sure (unless she is making a last second wardrobe change) that she going to be in a tight, full-length black gown. No, I don't know "who she is wearing" , but I can tell you for certain, she will be looking enormously FABULOUS!! So keep your eyes open for her! My fingers and toes are crossed that she gets some cam time with Lisa Rinna or somebody!!!! Cool She is a total doll, I think I'm more excited about that than the actual show!

Here is a pic of her and I a couple of weeks ago...

OK, a few more notes from last night...

As for my friend Trisha; she had the time of her life! I got a couple of emails from her this morning and could tell she was still absolutely glowing! She told me she flirted with Mickey Rourke, Sean Penn, Brad Pitt, and Peter Gabriel. Shared a makeup mirror with Angelina Jolie and chatted with Anne Hathaway in the ladies room. She was worried about stupid shit like bra straps showing or her arms and back not being perfectly tan...but worried for nothing cause she was WAY more put together then 90% of the women there. She was making her entrance on the carpet around the time that Kate Winslett was doing her interviews, but I still haven't been able to pick her out of the crowd.

On the fashion front, at first glance, I wasn't so crazy about Beyonce's dress (I think I told Nikki the pattern looked like the wallpaper in a 20's bordello), but after seeing it again today, I'm liking it more and more! Melissa George also had a stunning white strapless gown on that I guess I missed before, cause it was HOT and is in my top 5 now fer sure! Viola Davis was also looking very Marilyn-esqe in her gold gown!

Nikki mentioned Sean Penn's awesome acceptance speech. He was very good, but I thought the speech of the night came from Dustin Lance Black, who won Best Original Screenplay for Milk. It was very, very moving! Here is a transcript of what he had to say...

"Oh my God. This was, um, this was not an easy film to make. First off, I have to thank Cleve Jones and Anne Kronenberg and all the real-life people who shared their stories with me. And, um, Gus Van Sant, Sean Penn, Emile Hirsch, Josh Brolin, James Franco and our entire cast, my producers Dan Jinks and Bruce Cohen, everyone at Groundswell and Focus for taking on the challenge of telling this life-saving story. When I was 13 years old, my beautiful mother and my father moved me from a conservative Mormon home in San Antonio, Texas to California, and I heard the story of Harvey Milk. And it gave me hope. It gave me the hope to live my life. It gave me the hope one day I could live my life openly as who I am and then maybe even I could even fall in love and one day get married.

I wanna, I wanna thank my mom, who has always loved me for who I am even when there was pressure not to. But most of all, if Harvey had not been taken from us 30 years ago, I think he'd want me to say to all of the gay and lesbian kids out there tonight who have been told that they are less than by their churches, by the government or by their families, that you are beautiful, wonderful creatures of value and that no matter what anyone tells you, God does love you and that very soon, I promise you, you will have equal rights federally, across this great nation of ours. Thank you. Thank you. And thank you, God, for giving us Harvey Milk."
